Petition for Review Granted
Varn Chandola of Seattle is enmeshed in a domestic dispute with his ex-wife. His case came to our attention because the trial court’s ruling dividing the spoils and the time each parent can spend with their child not only did not punish Varn’s wife for making what all agree to have been a false allegation of child sex abuse against him, but legitimated the making of such allegations as a tactic in custody battles. Varn lost his appeal, but then NCRJ highlighted his dilemma as one of our sponsored cases. On December 12, Varn’s petition for review to the Washington Supreme Court was granted. Varn wrote to us, saying,
“NCRJ definitely played an important role in the Washington State Supreme Court’s decision to grant my petition. Many of the amicus parties which joined in support of my case such as SAVE received their initial information about my situation through your sponsorship link on me. Considering that everyone has limited time and resources, NCRJ’s brief summary of my case allowed other organization’s to determine whether they wanted to further consider joining in my support. And my legal team believes that support from amicus organizations played a significant role in the Court’s decision to grant the petition.
“Even though NCRJ itself did not join in support of the amicus brief on false allegations, I can’t thank it enough for serving as a catalyst for the great news today. Thank you once again!”
