Daycare worker to have day in court October 18
While most daycare and preschool workers who were falsely accused of “satanic ritual abuse” in the panic-ridden 1980s and 1990s had their convictions overturned on appeal years ago, daycare workers continue to be falsely convicted in more recent cases that seem less bizarre but which, unfortunately, are equally irrational.
NCRJ sponsors one such case, of Khemwatie Bedessie, a New York City woman who was falsely convicted only three years ago. As part of our sponsorship, we networked Khemwatie with prominent criminal attorney Ron Kuby, former partner of William Kunstler. Mr. Kuby is now representing Khemwatie on appeal.
Oral arguments in court for Kemwatie’s appeal will take place on October 18 at 10:00 am in the Appellate Division, Second Department, at 45 Monroe Place, Brooklyn, NY. Observers are welcome at the hearing.
